Job Description

The APHC’s mission is to promote health and prevent disease, injury, and disability of Soldiers and military retirees, their families, and the Department of the Army civilian employees; and assure effective execution of full spectrum veterinary service for Army and Department of Defense Veterinary missions. GDIT is seeking anInstitutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Adminto perform the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Work with the USAMRICD/USAPHC IACUC to support animal care and use programs in medical chemical defense and in health promotion and preventive medicine research and services to counter environmental, occupational and disease threats to health, fitness, and readiness.

  • Support may pertain to all regulatory and institutional responsibilities of the IACUC.

  • Work involves supporting the IACUC Chairman, Institutional Official, researchers, and animal care and use program personnel through the following activities: providing information and consultation on the preparation of animal care and use protocol submissions and all related documents (e.g., annual reviews, amendments, triennial renewals, etc.); animal ordering and tracking; animal care and use training programs; maintaining compliance and AAALAC accreditation; understanding of the federal laws, GLP regulations, DOD regulations, national guidelines, and institutional policies governing animal care and use; coordinates and prepares documentation for IACUC meetings and other required activities, such as FIPRs, animal welfare investigations, etc.; data gathering and report preparation for institutional reporting requirements such as the USDA report, annual OLAW and AAALAC reports, PHS Assurance Statement submissions, etc.; tracking and management of animal per diems; all other IACUC responsibilities.

  • He/she will generally utilize the methods established for IACUC administration at the respective facilities, but is encouraged to recommend improvements, alternate methods to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.

  • He/she would identify departures from the SOPs and from other governing regulations, guidelines, and policies, and initiate actions to investigate and prevent such occurrences.

  • Performs other assigned duties.

  • Shall possess a level of reading, comprehension, writing and document creation skills which seamlessly provide timely, effective, efficient administrative support with minimal errors in every electronically reviewing, editing and responding to scientific documents that are part of scientific studies.


Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.


  • 0-2 years of related administrative and analytical experience.
