Overview:

Candidate will support the Army National Guard (ARNG) Enterprise Operations and Security Services (EOSS) contract. This contract manages ARNG's GuardNet enterprise network, to include the Army Enterprise Service Desk - National Guard (AESD-NG), the Regional Cyber Center - National Guard (RCC-NG) including the ARNG Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC), Defensive Cyber Operations - National Guard (DCO-NG), interconnectivity among the 54 states, territories, and District of Columbia of the ARNG, connectivity from (4) Enterprise gateways to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) NIPRNET network, and enterprise SIPRNET tunneling.

This candidate will work with other IT specialists within the Enterprise Management Services group on the program, and will report directly to the Enterprise Management Services manager. The purpose of the position is to serve as a systems administrator on one or more of the systems maintained/administered throughout the EOSS Enterprise Tool Group. The systems administered involve multiple computers that use multiple operating systems. He or She is responsible for installing and testing the system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software.

Responsibilities:

  • Modifies, tests and implements system backup and recovery strategies for assigned system.

  • Diagnoses system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs. Modifies code, devises temporary fixes, documents problems and advises higher-level group members or other outside party.

  • Interacts with peers and vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Provides technical assistance to personnel involved in system design, programming, hardware selection and adapting commercially available software to meet the needs of the customer. Advises users on characteristics of system software. Implements systems software changes, operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems.

  • Participates in the analysis of requests for new or modified applications. Assists in analyzing and evaluating proposed changes to multiple computer systems. Considers factors such as compatibility with standard systems, conversion or implementation costs, and impact on existing equipment. As appropriate, sets up and tests products on equipment)

  • Assists in determining equipment demands, number and kinds of records, files, communications and procedures necessary to obtain, organize information and interfaces with other systems. Reports findings to the Team Leader.

  • Assists in the installation and configuration of hardware and software applications. Schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications.

  • Manages the flow of data between various tiers of the architecture.

  • Writes program scripts to facilitate backup and recovery procedures. Interacts with other information technology (IT) specialists in systems design, resource utilization and hardware/software installations.

  • Assists in security management to ensure only authorized (personnel) access computer systems. Performs security management in accordance with National Guard Bureau (NGB) regulations and state policies. Reviews and implements local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment.

  • Implements state policy relating to systems storage requirements. Assists with the modification of storage structures. Modifies system parameters on assigned system.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

Years of Experience: 5+ Years; Required Education: Bachelors; (work experience will be considered in lieu of degree)

  • DoD IAT Level 2 Certified

  • ITILV3 Foundation certified. (Within 60 days of hire)

Skills:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

  • Ability to work and effectively communicate enterprise-wide through group management, peers, and outside vendors.

  • In band and out of band management

  • Microsoft Active Directory

  • Microsoft System Center 2012,2016

  • Network and system configuration and performance monitoring tools

Preferred:

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 3 or higher

  • Current Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
