General Dynamics Information Technology Systems Administrator (VDI) with TS/SCI clearance in Arlington, Virginia
The Principal VMware Administrator responsibilities will include:
• Design, support & maintain VDI (virtualized desktop infrastructure) environment including hypervisors, desktop operating systems, application delivery technologies, desktop provisioning and supporting server infrastructure.• Collaborate with external groups, as required, to accomplish system build, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting activities.• Provide Engineering and Tier III/IV support for VDI related customer issues.• Ensure virtualization systems are compliant with security standards• Facilitate knowledge sharing by creating / maintaining comprehensive documentation• Must be available to work outside of normal business hours to fulfill production and project needs
Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.
Sets up administrator and service accounts.
Maintains system documentation
Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
May program in an administrative language.
Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
Provides advice and training to end-users.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
May serve as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
8-10 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.
The ideal candidate should have experience in the following skills/products.
Strong - Virtualization Technologies (VMware)
Large Scale (Datacenter) Physical to Virtual (P2V) and Virtual to Virtual (V2V) Migration experience
Strong-Storage/SAN Technologies (Installing, Configuring and Managing)
Strong - Networking Knowledge (Switch Management)
Physical (Server) Hardware (Dell/HP)
Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
Must be eligible for SAP program
Required Certifications (within 90/120 days of hire)
IAT level II certification per DoD 8570.01-M (within 90 days)
Amazon System Operations or Amazon Developer certification (within 120 days)
HP Blade Networking & Chassis Management Experience
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Cloud Integration and Testing
Travel is required as determined by the customer – approximate travel up to 20%
