General Dynamics Information Technology Sr Principal Linux Administrator, TS/SCI required in Chantilly, Virginia

Job Description

Position requires an active in-scope TS/SCI clearance and polygraph.

GDIT is seeking an Operations/Sustainment Engineer to support a large government contract. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux and technical troubleshooting techniques supporting an operations team. The operations team is responsible for supporting break-fix, sustainment, continuous monitoring, and PKI enablement functions.

This position requires off hours/on call support for one week every two to three months.

  1. Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.

  2. Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.

  3. Sets up administrator and service accounts.

  4. Maintains system documentation

  5. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

  6. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.

  7. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

  8. May program in an administrative language.

  9. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

  10. Provides advice and training to end-users.

  11. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.

  12. May serve as a technical team or task leader.

  13. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

  14. Participates in special projects as required.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications

8-10 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

Required Skills:

  • Linux management through the command line and use of command line text editor

  • Linux patching methods and procedures (Especially Red Hat)

  • Experience using a ticket management system (Example: JIRA, Remedy, HP Service Manager)

  • General knowledge of networking concepts, topology, and principles

  • Understanding of troubleshooting techniques and system maintenance methods

  • Strong customer service skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting environments (test, regression, production) and software deployments

  • Principals of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

  • Principals of the Apache web server

  • Principals of application integration

  • General understanding of ports and protocols

  • Revising technical operational documentation

  • Principals of the Tomcat web server

  • Principals of the Weblogic web server

  • Oracle DSEE administration

  • Oracle OVD administration

  • Principals of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI and Public Key Enabling (PKE)

  • Puppet Enterprise management and/or module development

  • Nagios administration
