General Dynamics Information Technology Senior Professional Development Specialist – Instructional Design & Delivery in Fairfax, Virginia
The Learning Team within HR Talent Development Center of Excellence is seeking an experienced instructional design professional with strong writing skills who can design and develop enterprise training programs.
The successful candidate will engage in all phases of the instructional design process—analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the creation of key enterprise-wide training programs for topics such as frontline supervision, people management, and program management. While the successful candidate will work with the larger Learning Team to build out robust learning solutions, the candidate will focus mostly on the design and development of the instructor-led components.
The ideal candidate is independent, detail-minded, creative, and has good interpersonal skills. Strong research and writing skills are a must. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing learning objectives, researching content and interviewing SMEs, sequencing and authoring content, as well as producing learning materials, instructor guides, performance aids, etc.
Travel will be limited, mostly to the Baltimore-Washington area. Virtual work options possible within this role.

Designs and develops new training programs and products including materials to support instructor-led seminars, virtual Instructor-led seminars, and blended learning options.
Produces high level documentation, recommended delivery method, curriculum content, and support materials to ensure mastery of learning objectives.
Develops appropriate learning objectives and test methods and designs instructionally valid training materials.
Ensures integrity of task analysis, training requirements, training hierarchies, instructional materials, and evaluation plans.
Uses adult learning principles and integrates interactive concepts/activities to encourage knowledge application and skill development.
Interacts with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of instructional content.
May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced personnel.
Researches current and emerging learning and development trends and technologies to stay current in the field of instructional design.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
5-8 years of related experience in professional development and training.
Strong research and writing skills.

Effective communication skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of general human resources practices and procedures.
