GDITis hiring a Business Objects Engineerwho will have responsibility for managing the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Enterprise BI Reporting and Analytics environment. The SAP Business Objects environment is a shared enterprise environment that supports the DHA in its mission of providing health care for the US Military.

The qualified individual will be responsible for the installation, deployment, configuration, integration, and maintenance of BCS 4.x on an AIX platform. Business Objects Engineer needs to create systems and technical guides and be able to suggest and / or follow technical decisions for complex information systems. Perform engineering studies and install new versions of the applications. Be able to troubleshoot complex application and networking issues. Be available for after-hours and weekend support as needed to ensure high availability for Production Servers.

  • Experience in a DHA / SDD/ MHS environment.

  • The Business Objects Engineer will have 5 or more years of experience in securing a Enterprise Business Intelligence Environment and 2 or more years of experience with an enterprise BI environment

  • Experience with SAP BO Administration – Central Management Console (CMC),

  • Central Configuration Management (CCM), Central Management Services (CMS)

  • Experience with Web Application Server, Server Intelligence Agent and Central Management

  • Server

  • Established track record of designing & implementing BI solutions in accordance with business requirements and best practices for full project lifecycle

  • Full lifecycle Business Objects - BOXI Implementation Experience – Installation, Configuration and Administration

  • Experience customizing/configuring Business Objects Universes using IDT Universe Designer, and ODBC connections

  • Experience with the BOXI reporting tool suite – Dashboards, Design Studio, Lumira, WebI, BI Launch Pad and Explorer

  • Production support experience is required; availability for on-call support as needed.

  • Experience with Business Objects software upgrade

  • Experience configuring Design Studio/Dashboards, Web Intelligence or Crystal Reports

  • Established track record of designing & implementing BI solutions in accordance with business requirements and best practices for full project lifecycle

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis

  • Strong customer service, teamwork, and communication skills Ability to work independently and quickly absorb new technologies

  • Ability to multitask and manage concurrent workload, balancing project delivery, operational support, and continuous improvement

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills



  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Customer preferred qualifications:

  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree or related degree and/or appropriate certification required.



  • 10-15 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

  • Current SSBI/T5 investigation or Secret clearance

  • Contribute to architecture & design conversations regarding BI solutions, and exercise authority and vision in decision-making

  • Collaborate with infrastructure team, SAP project teams, Compliance, PMO, Business Analysts, and business leads as necessary

  • Define and provide governance of standards, best practices and processes.

  • Share knowledge and cross-train on solution components

  • Ensure the performance and reliability of the BI infrastructure, in support of lines of business consuming these solutions

  • Perform BI 4.2 systems administration, including configuration, license management, performance tuning, data connection management, upgrades and hot fix application

  • Perform tuning and optimization of platforms

  • Lead platform software upgrades

  • Business Objects Security Design, Implementation and Administration

  • Writes Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Product Insertion Guide, and Software Suggestion and Recommendation white paper

  • Provides security support for web and application systems

  • Monitors environment to ensure user needs are responded to on as needed and the systems remain secure while meeting ongoing business needs

  • Troubleshoot reported issues and provide support to users at a T3 level

  • Requires working in a 24 x 7 Production support environment and willingness to work on weekends and weeknights

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Enterprise and Business Objects Security Model Requirements and working with multiple teams of developers and end users in shared enterprise environment

  • Experience in data modeling for a data warehouse

  • Knowledge of the EIM Suite (i.e. Data Services / Information Steward)

  • Unix/AIX and Windows Server Administration

  • WebSphere Administration Experience

  • Strong SQL skills

  • End User Training Experience

  • Business Objects Data Services, Voyager, Explorer, Live Office

  • Other BI tool and database experience
