Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
Unique opportunity for a developer to design and develop mission applications and lead small projects. The candidate would have the opportunity to develop application with varying degrees of scale, risk and complexity. Developer duties may include serving as the technical lead for the design, testing and implementation of complex applications, complex web application layouts, content and user interfaces and/or database projects.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• The developer consults with clients to develop complex user requirements.
• Translates user requirements from a formal requirements document into an application and/or database design.
• Writes interfaces to companion applications or databases.
• Writes necessary code.
• Ensuring interoperability with other applications.
• Generates test plans to ensure that adequate unit, system, and integration testing is performed.
• Oversees unit/functional testing and transitioning the application and/or database to production.
A training plan will be accepted for no more than 2 of the 6 Mandatory skills below:
Minimum of 2 years demonstrated on-the-job experience with full life-cycle application software development. Experience includes: “hands on” involvement in all aspects of the application software development life-cycle, (from requirements analysis through design, programming, testing, and deployment).
Knowledge or on-the-job experience with Ruby.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with product life cycle.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Github.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with the product life cycle including maintenance of production systems.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience exhibiting customer service skills.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience working in a team environment exhibiting problem solving skills.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with the Sponsor’s Ruby on Rails platform.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with the Sponsor or Sponsor’s partners and their current technology issues.
Demonstrated on-the-job experience exhibiting written skills to include technical documentation regarding Sun, Solaris and Linux.
Demonstrated experience deploying applications to a cloud infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Designs, develops, codes, tests and debugs highly complex new software products or makes significant enhancements to existing software.
Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems.
Resolves highly complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
Factors emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.
Serves as a customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software developers, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
Serves as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
Masters Degree preferred.
10-15 years of related software development experience.
