General Dynamics Information Technology Tools Team - Software Developer w/Polygraph in Herndon, Virginia
This position is part of a small development team whose responsibilities include developing a suite of tools and services geared toward Big Data analytics and ingestion. Familiarity with ETL processes and tools is desired.
Verifiable experience designing, testing and deploying software systems applications, design, development and interconnectivity
Experience with Java and MVC Framework
Experience with API Development
Experience with Amazon Web Service development
Experience working in a Linux environment
Experience with full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and short release cycles (Agile Development)
A detail-oriented and highly communicative personality, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with data ingestion, data processing and data modeling process
Experience translating complex system requirements into end-to-end design for applications
Experience with SQL (Oracle SQL, MySQL) and relation database/development
Experience with Bash scripting
Experience with Version Control experience such as Git or GitHub, Subversion
Experience with Pentaho or Apache NIFI
Experience working on systems that handle high volumes of data (hundreds of TB)
Experience with ETL Process Tuning
Familiarity with restful web services
Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
Designs, develops, codes, tests and debugs highly complex new software products or makes significant enhancements to existing software.
Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems.
Resolves highly complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
Factors emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.
Serves as a customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software developers, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
Serves as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
Masters Degree preferred.
10-15 years of related software development experience.
