General Dynamics Information Technology Collective Unit Training & Exercise Planner in San Antonio, Texas
The Collective Unit Training & Exercise Planner is responsible for developing USARC related Training Circulars, Exercise Directives, and in the design of USARC directed collective training exercises such as Warriors, Combat Support Training Exercises (CSTX), and Command Post Exercises- Functional (CPX-F) as a member of the USARC G-37 Initiatives Support Team.
Coordinates with the several USARC SRC Managers and exercise project offices for proper assignment of units to support exercise events based on doctrinal application of USARC’s exercise template. Provides unit scheduling recommendations based on the current business rules, Army Reserve Training Strategy, and Available Force Pool requirements. Gathers lessons learned for USARC exercises, assists in tasks to design, plan, prepare, coordinate and execute the various exercises and training events conducted by USARC units.
Works with the USARC Initiatives Team to develop exercise plans and product deliverables to support designated collective training events (Warriors, CSTX, CPX-F, etc) as directed by USARC. Researches, identifies, and recommends resources required for task execution and completion. Serves as a technical team or task lead on assigned training events/projects.
May be tasked to train or support other X-TSAR Teams by developing theater specific scripting of Master Scenario Events List (MSEL), or simulation control injects that are integrated with and support lanes training, field training exercises, and constructive staff training in a Live-Virtual-Constructive environment. Conducts in-depth research on theater specific operations, lessons learned and newly developed tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) used in the development of MSEL, or simulation control injects that accurately replicates the operational environment that the training is designed to support.
During training exercise/event execution may be tasked to serve as a member of the Exercise Control Group on the EXCON staff, Operations Cell, or Observer/Trainer (Analyst Support) Cell as required. Participates, as directed, in Concept Development Conferences, Initial Planning Conferences, Mid Planning Conferences, Final Planning Conferences, and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) Conferences to produce exercise control plans and storylines for assigned exercises.
Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience.
8-10 years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of technical/military training programs.
Candidate must have extensive experience in training Army units in both small unit live environments (Lanes/STX), and in command and staff constructive environments (CPX) at Battalion and Brigade level. Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years relevant experience in a leadership position in military units, with duties commensurate to those defined in the job description, including. Knowledge includes an understanding of military tactics, current tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and force structure in order to incorporate training units into the exercise. Understands the development and management of training in Live-Virtual-Constructive environments. Works in a highly intense information technology (IT) environment, and required to maximize the use of the mission command systems commonly used in Battalion through Division command posts. Additional experience with current versions of military training aids, devices, simulations and simulators (TADSS), mission specific digital systems/tools, and other available IT assets in the conduct of mission support is highly desirable.
Unique/Additional Requirements:Candidate must have and maintain a secret level security clearance. Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in supporting military operations; knowledge of relevant military simulations, hardware, and software is desirable. Some of these qualifications/competencies may include, but are not limited to: exercise development (road to war, scenario, master events, operations orders w/ appropriate annexes, injects/scripting, etc); exercise design and planning (continuous coordination with the Partner Unit); exercise control design (control processes, role player requirements, control school, dynamic scripting during execution, etc); simulation Models revision, development, and maintenance; rehearsal design and product development; exercise analysis (data collection, battle analysis, trend analysis, AAR development, etc); exercise IT network systems and communications architecture design, establishment, maintenance; exercise scheduling and coordination; and OC/T Academy curricula development and course sustainment. Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
