General Dynamics Information Technology Sr Technician, Telecom in Spring Lake, North Carolina
Installs, tests, troubleshoots, programs, maintains, and repairs digital switching equipment, attendant consoles, power and ringing relay racks, miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and computer data circuits and related apparatus required in the central switching office. This worker analyzes system failures and other unusual system occurrences to isolate the source of the problem and determine whether the failure is caused by software, hardware, or other factors. Employees in this position maintain manual and/or computerized central office records, including detail records, traffic analysis records, cable records, line records, subscriber service records, and spare parts inventories.
Performs installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems.
Installs, maintains and repairs voice, data and wireless communications systems.
Maintains telecommunications equipment and installs, rearranges and removes equipment and associated wiring.
Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Tests, locates, and repairs equipment problems associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance.
Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
3-5 years of related telecommunications experience.
Active Secret clearance required.
