Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an opportunity for a Information Systems Security Representative (ISSR) who will work directly with the Information Assurance Directorate (IA) within the Office of Cybersecurity. IA is charged with driving and enforcing effective information system governance, as well as risk and compliance activities. IA executes pre-production audit activities and leads the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) program. An integral part of this program is to assure that all applications running on the network maintain an acceptable level of security. The program’s objective is to assess any House systems before they are placed on the network, when a major change occurs, or when new security vulnerabilities are discovered. The program leverages security guidance outlined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Center for Internet Security (CIS).

An integral part of the Cybersecurity program is the creation and enforcement of security policies. We are seeking an Information Systems Security Representative to develop and modifying enterprise level security policies, technical standards and operating procedures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Perform a review of existing security policies, technical standards and operating procedures identifying gaps

  • Develop security policies, standards and procedures aligned with CIS, NIST or other industry best practices to address areas or technologies as defined by the House

  • Modify industry best practice security standards to meet House requirements

  • Modernize any existing security policies that require updates based on the advancement of current technology

  • Ensure consistency in guidance and terminology across all policies

  • Identify policy gaps and propose draft policy to address them

  • Work with security personnel to define policy guidelines

  • Work with security staff to ensure written policies are integrated into existing systems where applicable

  • Other duties as assigned

Education

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is required

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience to include 3+ years of developing and modifying enterprise level security policies, technical standards and operating procedures

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and writing security policies, standards and operating procedures at an enterprise level

  • Ability to interpret information security frameworks, applicable laws, and regulatory documents and integrate the information into security policy, standards and operating procedures

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts (i.e., security best practices, technology trends, etc.) and write about complex technical subject matter

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior staff, system owners, and technical and non-technical users

  • Excellent time management and organization skills, handling multiple simultaneous and changing priorities

  • Ability to both work independently and function effectively as a member of a team

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people with a variety of skills and experiences, in addition to build and maintain relationships across different functions and organization levels

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Familiarity with security compliance tools is a plus
