Network Administrator responsible for operations and maintenance of Mission Partner Environment (MPE) networks and equipment.

The network administrator will administration for coalition networks architecture and provide technical guidance, operational guidance and program decision-making for such network architecture which includes all components and technologies required to implement local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), including dynamic routing protocols, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Common Mission Network Transport (CMNT), remote access, wireless networking, virtual private networking, circuit provisioning and the cabling, switches, routers, hubs, multiplexers, modems, and cryptographic equipment.

The candidate will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Provide optimum technical assistance and operational performance of the USAREUR’s network infrastructures.

  • Provide operational guidance and technical assistance to organizational elements throughout USAREUR’s area of responsibility.

  • Serve as a SME in network design, technical development, and implantation of the evolving Enterprise Network (EN) systems which support the Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN).

  • Coordinate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of coalition networks including all hardware, software, telecommunications, and networking components.

  • Develop plans and designs for network modifications and enhancements.

  • Install, test, and sustain Customer Edge (CE) Router, and other enterprise servers, Area Bridging Switches (ABS), Area Core Switches (ACS), Area Distribution Switches (ADS), Edge Access Switches (EAS), as required.

  • Interface with the BICES Group Executive (BGX) to analyze, administer and maintain voice, video, and/or data communications networks.

  • Manage future usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.

  • Build network security and ensure compliance with security polices and procedures.

  • Ensure constant state of readiness, security, performance and availability of command or organizational tactical and strategic networks.

  • Evaluate future hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.

  • Participate in and lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.

  • Interface with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

  • Develop and implement testing strategies and document results.

  • Provide advice and training to end-users.

  • Troubleshoot and resolves complex problems.

  • May provide work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

  • Participate in special projects as required.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


8-10 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.

  • CCNP and an active Secret clearance is required.

  • IAT Level II Certification is required at start.
